Gulabi Gang The Pink Revolution

Report for WDR worldwide and WDR Planet School, 2010, 30 and 15 mins

They are India’s response to Robin Hood: The Gulabi Gang, hundreds of women dressed in pink saris. They go after corrupt officials and violent husbands, if necessary with sticks. Most of the gang members not only come from a poor background but are also from the lowest caste, the untouchables. Fed up with domestic violence and social injustice, the Gulabi women are taking up arms to fight back. The film chronicles the continual battle for justice by the Gulabi Gang and its leader Sampat Pal Devi.
